SEO - Searach Engine Optimisation Company SEO - Searach Engine Optimisation Company

So we’re all back from the Christmas break – a few kilos heavier, eager to find out what the New Year has in store for us. Luckily January is fairly quiet so it’s a good time to plan for the year ahead and get our thoughts in order to ensure we make this year the best one yet!

To help you on your way you could try one of our SEO workshops to get your website ranking higher and to get a better understanding of your web stats. Here’s a bit of information to help you weigh things up and some tips and tricks to get your business booming!

Pay per Click or SEO?

Well, that depends; do you need immediate short term results or are you planning for the long term?  What sort of budgets are you working with?  How competitive is your industry?  These are just a few questions which will determine what approach is the best to take for your business.  Pay per click campaigns can be very successful, however, a successful campaign often takes up a lot of fine-tuning and if you don’t manage your campaign well it can get very costly.  Pay per click gets you immediate results, but this will only last as long as you are paying for it.  It’s is great for quick gains and for short term use, or alongside an SEO project.  If your adverts aren’t relevant or exactly what people are expecting, you may pay a small fortune in clicks and get no conversions.

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is a medium to long term strategy that ensures page 1 rankings for an extended period of time (the length of time depends entirely on how competitive your keywords are).  You start seeing results from week 4 to week 8 and after a quality SEO project you could still be on page one for years later so SEO works out to be very economical.  With frequent search engine algorithm changes, SEO is becoming a specialists field requiring expertise and experience (hence the reason most people outsource it). We have loads of tips and ideas on our SEO blog, you can learn SEO yourself or give us a call and we can manage a pay per click or SEO project for you.

Got a bit of time on your hands?

With the slow period that most of us have at the beginning of the year we all have a bit more time on our hands.  Why not use this time to your advantage and learn how to optimise your website yourself.  Whether you are an advanced user or a complete beginner you can learn what factors affect your search engine rankings and what you can do to get ranked higher.  We are running a series of SEO workshops which also covers Google Analytics so one can measure the campaign performance based on metrics like goals and conversions.

We now do regular SEO workshops and have dates planned throughout the year. The next session is on Wednesday 24th February in Melbourne CBD. Click here for more information or to make a booking.

Choosing Keywords

Choosing keywords can be tricky; you might think that you know what your prospects would search for but a keyword research could reveal completely different results. This means that you could rank high for industry terms that only a few people search for...phrases that won’t bring much traffic to your website.  Alternatively, you might pick popular keywords, but if your keywords are highly competitive, it would take a lot of time and money to get to number 1.  Are you selecting the best keywords for your business? How to find good keywords for your business. If you need expert guidance in selecting your keywords contact us or give us a call on 1300 766 665.

Tip of the Month

Install Google analytics on your website!  Analytics is an excellent way for tracking how visitors are engaging with your website.  What pages are more popular?  Where do you lose sales?   How long do people stay on your site?  You can use the insights from analysis if this data as to improve website performance.
